Category: accessible Devices
I am needing an accessible mp3 player, preferably cheap, as i need to get it ASAP. I am currently using a sandisc that I had purchassed at best buy 3 years ago, but it is not responding to the computer. i have always had problems with it, but it has never been this bad, so I figured it is time for a new one. I purchassed another one from Walmart, and it is a Phillips, but I am already having lots of trouble with it. I am tired of going through all the frustration of trying out devices and seeing what would work best for me. I am going to be traveling a lot, so I can't rely on my computer battery. So anyone who has any suggestions on the most accessible mp3 player any help would be greatly appreciated. I am so frustrated and I need this as soon as possible. Thanks.
If you need it as soon as possible, could you not just by a large memory card for your phone and play them like that?
Failing that, if your looking for something really simple, get a ipod shuffle - it doesn't even have a screen.
I don't have an accessible phone that plays mp3's, and I don't want to use an ipad. I tried it once and it got really confusing. I know they have the talking one now, but I believe it's really expensive and runs off the sappy5 voices on the computer, at least that's what I understood, which do not work correctly on mine. So I don't think either one of those is an option.
the creative line of products are accessible. try either a creative muvo or a creative zen stone. both have models without screens, and that read as an extra drive on your computer allowing for simple copy and paste.
I'm just gonna say this, Walton Fanboys / Fangirls in trailers be damned:
*DO NOT!* buy any electronics that have any mechanical parts in them at all from WalMart. In fact their batteries are even cheap.
What happens is in order to negotiate the price down with the manufacturers they have to get the manufacturer to use cheaper parts, or go broke. It's true of laptops cameras all sorts of things. Haven't heard of it with MP3 players but what you describe is precisely what I'm talking about. Probably very weak contacts or a sorry battery.
Now that I've said this, a bunch of people will probably trot on out and give us the WalMart testimonials, but for the most part, any of that stuff I see from family, when they come around for help, generally makes Packard Bell look good. Sorry if you're not old enough to get the reference.
Definitely the muvo or zen stone. I have both and their great for travel. If you want to cary a fair amount of music, the 4 gb muvo holds up to 2000 songs. Battery life is also great, about 10 hours or so.
I use a sansa Clip plus, not huge, about 4 G, but you can buy a memory card. It's not accessible per se, but the menus are pretty easy to use. Btw, I didn't buy it at WalMart. The Zen and Muvo lines are pretty old, if you check Cnet.com (aka) Tech republic, there's a link where you can browse all kinds of tech products. That's where I go to find the latest nonIpod mp3 players. Btw, my player was around $40. Hth, ans Pm me if you need any more suggestions.
I love my Muvo T100. As was already said, it's screenless and works with simple copy and paste functionality. The buttons are very easy to use and it holds up to 4gb. It's a tiny thing so can fit almost anywhere and it has a decent battery life, not as long as a walkman, but still maybe 10 hours or so. I found mine for $14 on ebay. Talk about cheap!
Wow! That is cheap! I've never owned a Creative player. Oh wait, I did once, but it was really complicated. hear they make a good line of products though.
Here goes so many frowns at me! If you don't want to put up with a hasel with an Ipond say touch than just try an Ipond nano. I have to say jaws 11 and Itunes work very well. Just food for thought. Also The Ipod Nano has a radeo.
True, but those aren't really cheap and you have to use ITunes to import your songs.
As scary as ipods might seem, the shuffle is so incredibly easy. The second generation shuffles (not the third where you're forced to use their headphones or nothing at all) hold a gig of audio. There's also a tiny little program called rebuild which you put onto your shuffle which completely nigates the use of itunes.
Oh, that's neat. I've never heard of that. Does it allow you to do a simple copy/paste or is it a bit more complicated?
1 gig? That's not a lot of storage space. Also, do you think touch screen mp3 players will replace non touch screen ones? I know sighted people who don't like touch screens.
